Andrew Loong joins HKEX

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has appointed Andrew Loong as managing director and head of digital assets. He will begin his role in July, replacing Andrew Walton.

In the role, Loong will be responsible for the development of the digital asset ecosystem in HKEX’s markets, including the firm’s digital infrastructure and range of digital products. He will report to Glenda So, HKEX group head of emerging business and FIC.

Loong has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry, and joins from a Singapore-based digital family office where he oversaw digital asset product and operation development.

Prior to this, he served as head of security token offering structuring at technology and digital asset company BC Technology Group. Loong has also held roles at Mizuho Securities Asia, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group and Mitsubishi UFJ Securities.

Commenting on the appointment, So says: “[Loong] brings to us unique skillsets in the financial and legal sectors and has a wealth of experience driving digital assets and asset management platform strategies. His expertise will be invaluable to HKEX as we continue to grow our footprint in the digital assets space, harnessing the potentials of emerging megatrends.”
